Evergreen Coast EDD Tours Port of Shelton Properties

Mason County, WA – October 27, 2025 – Today, the Evergreen Coast Regional Partnership Economic Development District (Evergreen Coast EDD) met for a tour of the Port of Shelton properties, including Sanderson Field (Peste Business Park) and Johns Prairie Industrial Park. The Evergreen Coast EDD—comprised of Thurston, Pacific, Grays Harbor, and Mason counties—exists to coordinate regional economic strategy and investment, planning and implementing projects that strengthen local economies. Economic Development Districts serve as regional backbones that connect local initiatives with federal funding and statewide economic goals, ensuring smaller rural communities aren’t left out of large-scale investment opportunities.

The tour began at the Port of Shelton’s main office at Sanderson Field, where we boarded Mason County’s own Mason Transit Authority bus. From there, we traveled to Johns Prairie Industrial Park, passing several successful port businesses along the way including Belco Forest Products, Garcia Evergreens, and Laughing Grass.

At Lynch Creek Farm, we were greeted by owner, Andy Hunter, who provided an overview of operations at their impressive facilities. During their busy season, the company ships up to 12 full semi-truck loads of product each day. Lynch Creek Farm offers more than 250 handmade products crafted from the highest-quality greens available. They ship to all 50 states and continue to grow each year.

Following our visit to Lynch Creek, the group continued with a driving tour of the Sanderson Field properties, where we saw businesses such as Thermedia, Mason County Conservation District, and the new Olympic Mountain Ice Cream location.

The tour concluded back at the Port of Shelton office with lunch from T’s Café and remarks from Mason Transit Authority Executive Director Amy Asher, who shared updates on MTA’s latest initiatives, including new trends, expansion efforts, and diversification of operations.

MasonEDC extends its gratitude to Port of Shelton Executive Director Wendy Smith for an engaging and insightful tour of the port properties—and to Amy Asher and bus driver Karen for providing transportation.
