Olympia Federal Savings Joins MasonEDC Membership!

Mason County, WA – May 30, 2026 – Around 120 years ago, OlyFed was founded to provide savings and loan opportunities to the people of Olympia, Washington. What started as a small local financial institution has steadily grown alongside the communities it serves. Today, OlyFed has branches located throughout Thurston, Mason, and Lewis Counties and continues to focus heavily on community-centered banking and relationship building.

One thing that quickly stands out about OlyFed is how deeply rooted they are in the communities they serve. Financial literacy and community investment are both major focuses for the organization. OlyFed partners with local schools in Olympia and surrounding communities to help educate students on financial literacy and responsible money management skills. They also regularly support nonprofit organizations, schools, and local initiatives through sponsorships, partnerships, and direct giving programs.

Their philanthropic work is especially notable. OlyFed donates roughly 10% of earnings back into the community every year through a variety of local programs and partnerships. Community support has always been central to the organization’s mission and they continue looking for ways to create direct local impact.

One example of this is OlyFed’s “2 Cent Program,” which was introduced in Mason County to benefit the Mason County Humane Society. Through the program, two cents from every debit card transaction made with participating cards could be donated directly to the nonprofit organization in Belfair. OlyFed has launched several versions of these giving campaigns over the years benefiting organizations and schools such as the North Mason Bulldogs, Evergreen State College, and many others throughout the region.

OlyFed also stands out for its long-term organizational stability and employee culture. The bank is part of the top 1% nationally for BauerFinancial ratings and has maintained a 5-star BauerFinancial rating for 149 consecutive quarters, totaling more than 37 straight years of financial strength and stability. Internally, OlyFed has built a strong organizational culture focused on employee retention and long-term relationships. Many staff members have spent years growing their careers with the organization, including Rachel Rudenski with 16 years, Jessica Stocking with 14 years, Rebecca Bonneville with 11 years, Kim Smith with 5 years, and Valerie Cole with over 5 years of service. That kind of longevity speaks not only to the institution’s stability, but also to the culture and work environment OlyFed has built over time.

Beyond personal banking, OlyFed also provides a wide range of business services. Their team assists with business banking needs, commercial lending, nonprofit and commercial accounts, business documentation assistance, and guidance for entrepreneurs navigating the early stages of starting or expanding a business. Supporting local businesses and entrepreneurship continues to be one of their major priorities.

OlyFed decided to join MasonEDC membership to foster stronger connections with the local business community and entrepreneurship network while continuing to strengthen relationships with organizations that support Mason County. Their team strongly believes in keeping local dollars local and investing back into the communities where their customers live and work.

While OlyFed would certainly love the opportunity to become your primary bank, they also want to be recognized as a trusted local resource and community partner that genuinely cares about the long-term success of Mason County and the people who call it home. Join us in giving a warm welcome to Olyfed!
